Burana Tower and Kol-Tor (Kegety Gorge)

A visit to an ancient historical site and mountain trekking

Burana Tower

Burana tower is almost all that remains of the ancient Sogdian city of Balasagun. The city was once a caravan stop along the Silk Road and hosted a sizable Nestorian Christian population. During this tour you will be able to take in amazing views from the top of the tower and explore the open air museum and cemetery. There is also an indoor museum and gift shop where you can view many ancient artifacts. Only 80 km from Bishkek, Burana Tower is a must see.

Kegety Gorge and Kol-Tor Lake

The Kegety Gorge is located 75 km from the city of Bishkek on the northern slope of Kyrgyz Ala-Too. The Kegety river, which flows through the gorge, has many tributaries. The Kegety gorge divides into two separate gorges along the way and along the western path there is a nice 14 meter high waterfall and on the eastern path there is Kol-Tor lake which requires a 14 km hike to reach. A beautiful place for hiking and trekking, as well as picnics.
